Dockworkers at ports from Maine to Texas go on strike

(AFN) The contract between the ports and about 45,000 members of the International Longshoremen’s Association expired at midnight, and even though progress was reported in talks on Monday, the workers went on strike. The strike affecting 36 ports is the first by the union since 1977.

Workers began picketing at the Port of Philadelphia shortly after midnight, walking in a circle at a rail crossing outside the port and chanting “No work without a fair contract.”

The union had message boards on the side of a truck reading: “Automation Hurts Families: ILA Stands For Job Protection.”

Local ILA president Boise Butler said workers want a fair contract that doesn’t allow automation of their jobs.

UN General Assembly passes resolution calling for Old City Jerusalem to be Jew-free

The Palestinian-fronted resolution passed by wide margin, demanding that the Israeli army and Jewish residents evacuate to pre-1949 line within a year.

Jerusalem’s Old City, in addition to Judea and Samaria, must be Judenrein within a year, according to a Palestinian-drafted resolution, which the U.N. General Assembly passed on Wednesday.

The resolution, which passed by a 124-14 margin with 43 abstentions, is meant to give force to a July advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice, which declared Israeli presence to be illegal in any area over the 1949 armistice line.

Scientists revive 1,000-year-old seed from cave near Jerusalem, possibly resurrecting mysterious tree mentioned in the Bible

(Blaze) Scientists have revived a mysterious seed found in a cave near Jerusalem. Researchers say the seed is approximately 1,000 years old and may sprout a long-lost tree mentioned in the Bible.

In the mid-1980s, archaeologists excavated a cave in the lower Wadi el-Makkuk region north of Jerusalem. Inside the cave alongside a 26-foot cliff were Roman-era beads, woven ropes, and about a dozen ancient seeds — primarily for fruit-bearing date palms Phoenix dactylifera and Balanitis aegyptiaca, according to the Daily Mail.However, there was a 0.8-inch seed that intrigued scientists.

SCOTUS took interest in my case!

(Operation Sunlight) Breaking news in the fight for accountability in government and fair elections. For years, we’ve seen courts, particularly in Nevada, fall short when it comes to upholding the law in cases tied to elections. After Nevada courts turned their backs on justice, I took the next step — I filed an appeal to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS), case number 24-346.

As of 9/27, my case has officially been docketed by SCOTUS, and they have ordered the respondents — in this case, the district attorney’s office — to respond to my writ of certiorari by 10/28/24. Do you find it interesting that the so-called press has refused to cover this…
